ankle pain

I fell and missed a step a day ago and must have somehow landed funny on my ankle, my ankle isn't swollen, or discolored It does make a loud clicking noise when i rotate it. It doesn't hurt when i walk on it, only if i put to much weight on it. It actually hurts more when I'm sitting kind of like a dull achy kind of pain, i get pins and needles kinda feeling in my toes, and my foot gets cold, any idea of what i could have done to it? I really don't want to have to go to the Dr. I don't want the hassle of having to get a referral to get x-rays, and so on, and my insurance will not let me go to a specialist without a referral from my PCP! If i have to i will go to the DR. Please any advice on what it is would be a great help!

Hi,
Unfortunately, I think you have to go to the doctor. Your primary care doctor can order an x-ray; make sure it is read by a radiologist and not just your PCP. That is the only way you can tell if you broke anything. The fact that you are getting tingling in your toes and the foot is cold concerns me; they are not good signs.
Get your ankle looked at as soon as possible.
Good luck.
