Heel Pain

by Steve
(Sydney)

Hi,

I am 51 years old and am reasonably fit, I swim and play soccer I have had knee surgery on at least 7 occasions, torn anterior & posterior cruciate ligaments, high tibia osteo-otomy and more. During soccer training I felt a sharp pain from my heel and could hardly walk as a result, this occurred over one week ago and is still painful, when I wake up the first 5 minutes or so are painful the pain eases off a little during the day but is always present annoying and painful, can you advise please.

R

Steve

Hi Steve,
The smart money would be to have your foot x-rayed to make sure you do not have a stress fracture. Assuming no fracture you may have a bad case of plantar fasciitis or perhaps a heel spur.
I would say that if the pain has lasted over one week and because you are so active, go have a sports medicine doctor examine you.

Sure Sounds Plantar Faciitis
by: Greg

I would have to agree with Marc.
You could go to this site and check out the symptoms to get a better idea if you have injured your Plantar Facia and what short term things you might do to help.
