High heels make my foot feel better!

by Andie
(Savannah)

I work on my feet all day usually in flats or a sandal. My right foot has started hurting - it's really, really painful. The pain is on the top of my foot. Ibuprophen helps a little, but walking is awful and the pain is so intense it wakes me up at night. Flexing my foot down hurts into my ankle flexing it up makes the top hurt more and wiggling my toes is difficult. This morning in desperation I tried all my shoes on and the only ones that make my foot feel good enough to walk on are a 3.5 inch wedge or a 2 inch kitten heel/ I'm confused and wonder if wearing a heel is going to make a bad problem worse.

Hi Andie,
Sometimes changing the "pitch" of the foot may alleviate some pain. In your case if the pain on top of your foot is very close to the ankle I could see how the heels might help.
Since I am only guessing, I would think you would be better served to see a footspecialist and get a proper diagnosis.
