It happens mostly at night but on the rare occasion at other times as well. It wakes me up. The itch is so intense I can't stand it. I also can't scratch it because it doesn't seem to be on the outside, but rather on the inside. It has been on my big toe, on the ball of my foot, on my heel and on the arch at different times. Is this peripheral neuropathy? Is there anything that I can do to stop the itch?
Hi Mary, If the skin is clear then you may have a neuritis which is a local inflammation of a nerve. I would think if the pain is as intense as you state, a visit to a podiatrist would be indicated. Marc Mitnick DPM

I have horrible itching on the bottom of my foot
i have it also, and it is intense and inside where you can't itch it. The only relief I get is ice.... ihen it "grabs me" its unbearable; intense itching, and pain at the same time, you could rub or scratch the skin off it is so intense...... but if you can get to ice, it will stop almost immediately. I also bought over the counter foot sprays to keep on hand ... that too sprays out ice cold and stops the itch in its track...
