Multiple pains in bottom of feet

by Stephanie
(Colorado)

About two days ago a few spots on the bottom of both my feet became very sensitive and have seemed to be getting worse. It feels as if there is something stuck in these spots but I can't see anything pertruding. I walk in bare feet a lot so my feet have very tough skin. My roommate mentioned that he broke a glass in the kitchen the other day but thought that he got it all up. When I rub over most of the painful spots, there seems to be a small bump and a purplish red area. If this is glass, I am afraid that I will not be able to see it if I start digging around. It's getting painful enough that I don't want ot even walk too much so any help would ne appreciated. If I do have to go to the doctor how would they find the pieces and should I be going to a foot doctor? I also don't have health insurance and am nervous to go to the doctor for fear of the final costs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Stephanie,
If there is glass in the foot, generally what I do is scrape a little skin away from the area to expose the glass. In most cases I am able to remove the sliver of glass without much fanfare (or pain).
If there is glass in your foot chances are it may get infected and then your medical bills are going to be astronomical. So, have it taken care of right away and yes, a podiatrist is the one to see for this type of problem.

continuous pain after foot surgery
by: Anonymous

Six months ago i went to see a prodiatrist for the fist time ever about my foot burning and sharp pain after prolong standing on the job, this problem started 6 years prior to this and continue only when standing long periods. I explain this to my doctor and after he took 1 x-ray said that i needed foot surgery on booth feet
and said i had bone spurs in 4 places thyat needed to be removed and replaced w/screws so after the surgery on one foot all kinds of pain developed that i was very suprise , I never was told of the consequences of the after affect of pain or how my foot will be deform into something different from the other feet or how i would deal with the after effects. I have one toe that is half the size of the original toe and 2 toes stay up all the time and pain and buring that is just hedious to what i used to have,. I"ve done everything to to see what is wrong with my foot ,therapy made it worse medications dont help now and now all i have is the mri to tell me the rest. I have nerver thoght that it would turn out to be so bad. I need someone with the same problem to pleas tell me what my condition are or please tell me why this is a bigger problem now than it was at first. My doctor told me this ( surgery would make it all better but it is all whose than i can imagine. Walking makes it from 6 to 10 and im about out of mind and more so when i go to bed at night.

THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM AND I NEED HELP FAST!

Hi,
Do yourself a favor and get a second opinion from another foot specialist.
