Multiple pains in bottom of feet

About two days ago a few spots on the bottom of both my feet became very sensitive and have seemed to be getting worse. It feels as if there is something stuck in these spots but I can't see anything pertruding. I walk in bare feet a lot so my feet have very tough skin. My roommate mentioned that he broke a glass in the kitchen the other day but thought that he got it all up. When I rub over most of the painful spots, there seems to be a small bump and a purplish red area. If this is glass, I am afraid that I will not be able to see it if I start digging around. It's getting painful enough that I don't want ot even walk too much so any help would ne appreciated. If I do have to go to the doctor how would they find the pieces and should I be going to a foot doctor? I also don't have health insurance and am nervous to go to the doctor for fear of the final costs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi Stephanie, If there is glass in the foot, generally what I do is scrape a little skin away from the area to expose the glass. In most cases I am able to remove the sliver of glass without much fanfare (or pain). If there is glass in your foot chances are it may get infected and then your medical bills are going to be astronomical. So, have it taken care of right away and yes, a podiatrist is the one to see for this type of problem. Marc Mitnick DPM
