Pain beside Right big toe
by De
(NOLA)
I've never had an ingrown toe nail, and I don't think this is one, as my toe nail is fully grown out and manicured. I have a small knot (a little red) just to the right side of my big toe nail. I would say about a rank of 7 on a 1 to 10 pain scale. More annoying than debilitating. I would really like to know what it is and if there is anything I can do about it.
Hi De,
There is probably nothing you can do about it but making an appointment with a podiatrist will probably rid you of the growth and the pain.
The most common growth that occurs in this area is what is known as a granuloma which is a combination of infected tissue and scar tissue. In most cases a piece of nail has to removed and the granuloma has to be cut away and cauterized and they tend to bleed quite a bit.
It is a relatively simple procedure and you will be able to walk without much discomfort.
