Was slamming on the brakes when I rear-ended vehicle, and as a result, I have pain in my right foot. The pain is on the top of my foot, and it is very tender close to where my ankle bends. I feel the most discomfort when I try to move my foot side-to-side (when wiggling foot into a shoe, for example). I have almost not pain when going back and forth, like in walking. Any idea what the problem is and what I need to do?
Hi Jill, Obviously you damaged something as a result of the accident. If the pain has persisted longer than a week, you really need to see a doctor and have an x-ray, that is the only way you will find out what you did to yourself. Marc Mitnick DPM

Pain in the top of foot due to accident
My son has severe Sever's Disease. He is 15 and we have tried everything for treatments. Some days the pain is so bad he can't stand up. Could this be caused by something else?? We have consulted Podiatrist, orthooedics, physical therapy, rheumatologist, and neurologist to no avail. Please Help with any suggestions.
Hi Marj- I am sure you have been told this condition will eventually pass BUT until that time arrives the condition can be very painful. I have found in my experience that taping the heel offers the best pain relief in the more troublesome cases. It is called a basketweave taping of the heel area. A podiatrist or perhaps a physical therapist will be aware of this technique. If it is effective for your son, you can be taught to tape him yourself. Marc Mitnick DPM
