Pain in toe during the winter.

by Teresa
(Sacramento, CA)

Here it goes again. This is the third winter in a row that the minute the cold weather hits.......my toe next to my pinky toe begins to swell twice it's size and hurts so bad that I can't walk on the foot.....If I get my foot warm and toasty.......that same toe begins to itch like crazy and the skin almost hurts to touch.........but the pain is completely gone until my foot gets cold again.

This is only affecting the one toe. In the spring, summer and fall......the toe is totally normal again.....

Hi Teresa,
When toes react to cold weather the biggest concern is that of a circulation problem ranging anywhere from a an otherwise annoying problem to possibly an indication of a more severe underlying problem.
Your best bet would be to see a vascular specialist who will be able to adequately assess your particular situation.

I notice these messages are kind of old but I experienced this last winter and now a couple days ago it has started again. It is the toe next to my pinky toe and it is strange and is making walking hard. If anyone found out what it is please respond!! Thanks

Hi Theresa,
I wondered if you found the underlying reason. I got exactly the same problem on my both feet exactly next to pinky toe on each foot! I am desparate to learn to know what is going on. Would you please share your update.
