What do I do with a broken middle toe?

by Gee
(Whitby, Ont. Can.)

I broke my middle toe 7 months ago. Even though I followed the advice of what to do with a broken toe, today it is still painful and still looks swollen. What do I do with it?

Hi Gee,
Unfortunately if it has been seven months and you still have pain I can assume you have what is known as a nonunion, the break never mended.
You might be a candidate for a bone stimulator which helps to fix broken bones that are delayed in healing, but more than likely, if the toe hurts you enough, you might have to consider surgery on the toe in an effort to alleviate the pain.

Broken MIddle Toe
by: Anonymous

I have had a broken middle toe for about 3 years now.. Still is swollen and still hurts I play Ice hockey on it about 3 times a week.. But i need to finally get it fixed. What should i do?

Hi,
Since it has been over three years, it will probably require surgery to repair it.
