Both of my feet hurt. My heels are really sensitive. if I take a long walk or use my feet too much, my feet will hurt all over that evening or the next day. sometimes they get really hot. I am constantly popping the joints between the toes by stretching them. I am often dreaming of foot massages. I am 24 years old and want to know that I wont be suffering like this forever. I saw a podiatrist a year ago and he said I had tendonitis but was curious as to why I had it in both feet. I babied them for a while, but they continue to hurt.


they ache and frequently feel like someone is beating them with a hammer. This sounds dramatic, but it is how it feels.

I hope you can offer me some hope.

Generally when people have the same type of pain in each foot you have to look for a common denominator. Most commonly this is a certain pair of shoes that are just no good for your foot type, or perhaps the type of exercise you do or the surfaces you exercise on are not right for your feet.
Many times an orthotic may be of help since they cushion the way you walk, support your feet in their proper alignment so that the tendons do not have to "overwork". Additionally, if your foot is not a good "shock absorber" as you walk or if you do not have much fat on the bottom of your feet, this too can add the feeling of being "beaten with a hammer" and an orthotic should help that as well.
I think there is hope for you. Just pursue it.

i have high blood sugar and my feet do not get enough blood flow which will make them hurt burn sweat and swell i would ask my doctor to do a blood sugar test to make sure and he can give you med to help some days it makes my whole leg hurt

i was out walking my daughters dog and he like to walk in the field behind the house,well my feet started hurt and burn,i know i weak ankels,and my left ankel has a secondery crush,this burning and hottiness started monday 4-4-2011,the more i walk and just put wgt on they hurt.what do i do?

I am a surgical technologis and stand on my feet all the time in one place. I do not get to sit down much. My fet hurt so bad that at times it will go to my back and knees. I have tried every shoe and have orthodics. Recently I have noticed that the bottom of my heel has been hurting. I have changed my shoes and still nothing. My feet will swell so big and it can't hardly stand to put them down on the floor the next morning. I have even been woke up by them hurting. What should I do????

2.16.09"I have waitressed for 30 years, lived with chronic to critical episodes of foot pain, started waitressing in roller skates as a car hop, I worked in PEDS Sneakers at Marshalls & A&W, I lived in the pointed toe high heel era, I walked to school in pattern leather pumps, I worked in steel toe shoes, you name it! For the past 7 years I've worn Merills, Reebocs, Espirit, Nurses shoes, bare feet, boots and sandals and never had a problem. And then, one day I woke up and almost fell down the stairs because the pain in my feet, as I put my foot down on the tread startled me to the point of tears and I almost buckled over.
All the OD's MD's, PD's, Gyn/Obs and foot care specialists , you name them they have nothing worth listening to when it comes to painful, cramping, spasmotic, throbbing, freezing or burning feet. Evidently what is happening to MY feet and has been for 9 months, and 4 dr's and foot care later, is THYROID/HASHIMOTOS DISEASE or even GOUT. Yeah! There are serious gland/hormones conditions that RIP UP your feet. IT?s NOT ALWAYS ABOUT THE FEET IS IT DOC!! @*&(%$#!! Don?t waste your time like I did. Step out of the box and have your thyroid levels checked, and checked again, any MD can do order a blood test. But reading them and knowing about HORMONES is NOT for our Family/General/Podiatry dr.'s. See a specialist, an Endocronologist or a Vascular Surgeon right away. Hormones and circluation, inflamation and glands go hand in hand. There you have it.

I called in November and the earliest opening was June,(yeah June??)with an Endroconolist (glands dr.) This doctor is the only one in my city.

Dear Dr. Mitnick, The orthotics arrived four days ago and I slipped them into my shoes immediately. I was skeptical as to the usefulness of the item, they really didn't look very exotic. I have to say though, after using them for just four days, I have experienced grand relief from my foot pain. Even the very first day, I was able to do a lot of work while on my feet with at least a 75% reduction of pain. It has only gotten better every day, and I go nowhere without my shoes with the orthotics. I had been experiencing extreme heel and sole pain for about six months and had to take extended breaks off my feet many times a day as well as regular doses of Ibuprofen. Since getting the orthotics, my life has returned to normal and I feel good again. Just wanted to say thanks for the recommendation for a very effective item, I had no idea what a change this item could affect.

Dr. Mitnick, Thank you, you were 100% correct. The pain finally brought me to the ER. I spent 8 days in the hospital. The Doppler you spoke of was able to show that there was no pulse in that foot. This was an arterial clot that split and traveled throughout my leg. My leg was almost amputated. I am in rough shape but have all my parts intact!! You certainly know what you are talking about. Dr. Mitnick, Just want to say thank you so very much for your quick response and very informative reply! After reading what you had to say, I called the doctor's office and was able to get in and see him the same day as my injury. Toe was x-rayed and luckily, it is not broken or fractured. Very badly bruised and will probably lose the toe nail. And although my toe and toe nail are still very black and blue and very sore, they ARE both starting to feel a little better. So again, thank you! I am so very happy that I came across your website. The service you provide is outstanding and immeasurable!
