Right foot pain after car accident

My right foot was injured when I was rear ended by two other cars. The MRI was negative. However my foot continues to bother me years later. I notice differences between my feet when I drive, walk or even when I am resting my feet. The sensation can be described as a tingling, slightly painful, and some times numbing feeling. It is located mostly in the mid section of my foot on top, but sometimes it can be on the right side, ankles or else where. I don't want to go to a doctor because I feel like they won't believe me since I can not pin point an exact spot. The pain is real. Using an orthodic shoe to drive with has not helped the situation. What is wrong with my foot? Is this permanent? Thank you


Hi Barbara,
I do not know why you think a doctor will not believe you just because you cannot pin point the pain. Things like this can be very common in accidents.
I think your best bet would be to see a neurologist since your symptoms are neurological in nature.
As a side note, did you injure your back at all in the auto accident? I ask because your symptoms could also be the result of nerve irritation in your lower back.

I have the samething. I was rearended, whiplash. Within 48-72 hrs, the top of the right foot, mainly towards right side close to ankel start hurting. I though maybe I pressed the break so hard and hurt it. Pain is decreased and once a while it come back. I don't know if I should go see the foot doctor. However I did see orthpedic doctor and discover C3-4 heniated disc (pre-existing), + C4/5/6 problem. Shoulder blades pain and chest heaviness, aching, numbness and tingling to left arm. Lower back pain toward left and left leg numbness and tingling. right wrist toward thumb hurt like I sprain it, maybe I did it against the wheel. Are the hand and foot problems separate issue to the back and neck or all associated with neuro problem?

Dear Dr. Mitnick, The orthotics arrived four days ago and I slipped them into my shoes immediately. I was skeptical as to the usefulness of the item, they really didn't look very exotic. I have to say though, after using them for just four days, I have experienced grand relief from my foot pain. Even the very first day, I was able to do a lot of work while on my feet with at least a 75% reduction of pain. It has only gotten better every day, and I go nowhere without my shoes with the orthotics. I had been experiencing extreme heel and sole pain for about six months and had to take extended breaks off my feet many times a day as well as regular doses of Ibuprofen. Since getting the orthotics, my life has returned to normal and I feel good again. Just wanted to say thanks for the recommendation for a very effective item, I had no idea what a change this item could affect.

Dr. Mitnick, Thank you, you were 100% correct. The pain finally brought me to the ER. I spent 8 days in the hospital. The Doppler you spoke of was able to show that there was no pulse in that foot. This was an arterial clot that split and traveled throughout my leg. My leg was almost amputated. I am in rough shape but have all my parts intact!! You certainly know what you are talking about. Dr. Mitnick, Just want to say thank you so very much for your quick response and very informative reply! After reading what you had to say, I called the doctor's office and was able to get in and see him the same day as my injury. Toe was x-rayed and luckily, it is not broken or fractured. Very badly bruised and will probably lose the toe nail. And although my toe and toe nail are still very black and blue and very sore, they ARE both starting to feel a little better. So again, thank you! I am so very happy that I came across your website. The service you provide is outstanding and immeasurable!
