Hard bump on bottom of foot

by Erika
(Cleveland, Ohio)

see the bump?

see the bump?

When I was about 12 or 13, i noticed this bump about the size of a dime on the bottom of my foot. it is on my left foot, under my pinky toe, but closer to the arch of my foot. so dead center of my foot on the left side of the left foot. any way, from then till about when iwas 22, it would hurt occassionally. get a little hard, and hurt, but go away. i had a baby when iwas 23, and since then, my foot really hurts. if i cross my legs, it gets hard and hurts and throbs. it is about the size of a quarter now. if i am sitting down just normally, i can feel a sharp throbbing. sometimes, it hurts to walk on that side of my foot, so i will walk on the right side of my arch. I have read it might be a fibroma, and those attach onto the fibroma placitias or something like that. but, mine is not under my big toe region, it's under my pinky toe region, around the arch.

Hi Erika,
Thanks for the picture, it makes my job easier. It appears to be a plantar fibroma. They can pretty much occur anywhere on the bottom of the foot.
There are a few different treatments available, go back and read my article on plantar fibroma. Try the conservative things first, do not be quick to have it surgically removed, unless all other treatments fail.

I get large bumps on the bottom of my feet. They feel bruised and itch. Like a spider bite. I thought that's what it was, but I get them to often. They last for a day or two and then their gone. What is it?

Plantar Fibromatosis
by: Debra

I was glad to read about this. I just discovered a bump on the left side bottom of my foot a little below the baby toe and it does hurt. I felt it start hurting yesterday and today felt around and had my husband check it out and it is definitely a bump. I had hurt my right ankle and was forced to lean on my left foot for about 3 weeks and could only wear a flat shoe because I could not get a shoe on my right foot due to swelling from the ankle injury. Anyways, thanks for the info - at least I have a really good idea of what is going on now.
